Chris Cole is in love. Hes been in love for about 21 years now. This love was discovered right around the time he began talking. Melodies of slurred, mispronounced words he hadnt learned yet would flow freely from his lips. Young love. Puppy love. Little did he know that this infatuation would spark a lifetime full of dreams and aspirations and possible, reachable goals.
Chris began nurturing this love at the young age of 7, performing in school talent shows and church choirs, bringing audiences a gift beyond his years. At the age of 10, he joined his first real organized ensemble, an all-black (with the exception of Chris) gospel choir in southwest Georgia. It was here that he learned music is in its best form when it comes from the soul and glorifies his God.
Love started to get serious when he and his family relocated to southern California. Chris began looking for real talent shows and competitions in an effort to profess his love in front of a larger audience. At the age of 12, he found what he was looking for. In front of a crowd of 3,000+ people, at the infamous Hollywood Palladium, he took 2nd place in a vocal competition. He fell hard and deep.
At 14, Chris signed a joint venture production deal between Paramount Pictures and DV8/A&M records. He was the youngest member in the all male, vocal group Unhurduv. They recorded their debut album, which was set to be released in the first quarter of 2000, but unfortunately, the deal fell through and the members disbanded. Chris began to lose his faith and his love. He spent the next year and a half heartbroken and faltering from the path he once knew so well. Eventually, Chris fell out of love. However, what is true remains true and he would find that out in the near future.
In 2002, Chris auditioned for a role in a feature film at the last minute. Two weeks later, he found out that he won over the casting directors and producers of the film, landing the role. The Fighting Temptations, starring Cuba Gooding Jr and Beyonce Knowles was released in August of 2003 and debuted at #2 in its opening weekend.
Over the years, Chris has developed a sound unique to himself and what he stands for as a solo artist. The same love found him once again. Since then it has been stronger and more prospective than ever.
